S.Korea Firms Grant $8.2M to Vietnam Social Projects in 3 Years

South Korean enterprises operating in Vietnam have granted $8.2 million to social projects in the country over the past three years, said Park Noh Wan, Minister Counselor of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam. The information was released at a press briefing to introduce the “true dream” program co-held by the S.Korean Embassy and Hanoi Television that will be broadcast from Sept to Dec 2011. The humanitarian projects include providing scholarships, medical services and charity houses for local residents as well as relief aid for flood victims. In addition to actively contributing to Vietnam’s economic development, Korean businesses are doing all they can “for Vietnam’s society and people regardless of business profit.”
S.Korea is the biggest investor in Vietnam with 2,812 projects totaling $23.33 billion as of Aug 20, generating more than 500,000 jobs for local people. (Quan Doi Nhan Dan – People’s Army Sept 8 p8, vovnews.vn Sept 8)
