Singapore, WB Support Vietnam City to Develop Transport Plan

Authorities of Vietnam’s central city of Danang have recently worked with officials from the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) and the World Bank (WB) on a tripartite cooperative program for planning and managing the city’s traffic system. The Singaporean government and WB will help Danang perfect its  traffic infrastructure so that it will become an attractive tourism and environment center by 2020, the Giao thong Van tai newspaper reported Jan 21. The three sides agreed that the technical assistance of the program’s first phase will include research and review of the city’s relevant planning, recommendations of measures to improve its traffic system and land use, and human resources development. The WB and SCE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Danang authority for the project. Earlier, WB pledged a $300-million loan for a sustainable development project in 2013-2018 in the city, focusing public transport network development, environmental protection, infrastructure and legal improvements in transport and urban management.
