SEA’s Biggest Wastewater Treatment Plant to Open in Vietnam HCMC in 2025
The Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe wastewater treatment plant project in Vietnam’s southern Ho Chi Minh City, which will be the largest in Southeast Asia, is expected to come into use in June 2025, local media reported.
The construction of the $524-million project, invested by Ho Chi Minh City’s Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, is currently around 41% complete.
The project, among eight component projects of the second phase of the city’s environmental sanitation project, aims to treat wastewater being discharged into Saigon river.
Once completed, the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe wastewater treatment facility can treat 480,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day, raising the city’s daily wastewater treatment capacity to 1.1 million cubic meters, or about 71% of the daily wastewater discharge, from the current 644,000 cubic meters.
