Scholarships Presented to Poor Students in Vietnam Coastal Areas
On July 21st, in the central province of Phu Yen, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Newspaper held a ceremony to present 176 scholarships worth VND365 million to students from four provinces in the south of central Vietnam. Hoang Tan Viet, permanent vice secretary of Phu Yen provincial Party Committee and chairman of Phu Yen provincial People’s Council said that the scholarships gave financial and spiritual help for students in disadvantaged coastal areas. The ceremony was also an opportunity to provide students with information about their coastal region’s seas and islands. Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union coordinated with the Phu Yen province’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to hold a ceremony for students to offer incense at a memorial shrine in the province. At the ceremony, organizations and individuals in the province donated over 30 million VND for the program. (cpv.org.vn July 24)
