Sappers Successfully Defuse A Bomb in Can Tho
Sappers of the Can Tho Military Command successfully defused a bomb weighing 250 pounds which had been made in the USA, on May 2nd. Earlier on April 23rd, a local man named Nguyen Van Duc in Vinh Thanh Village, Vinh Trinh Commune, Vinh Thanh District, Can Tho City detected the bomb when he was exploiting sand from the Hau River in Thot Not District. He then reported the bomb to the local military command and authorities. Local engineering forces were sent to the location and they later took the bomb to a safe place. After carefully studying the features of the bomb, local sappers then successfully defused it. According to Chief of the Engineering Force of the Can Tho Military Command, Colonel Nguyen Van Hanh, there may still be eight bombs weighing between 250 pounds and 1,000 pounds lying elsewhere in the districts of Thot Not, O Mon and Phong Dien. The local engineering force would actively find the bombs and defuse them in the coming time, he said. (qdnd.vn May 4)
