Sappers Defuse Three Bombs in Phu Tho Province
Sappers, militia and local people in Phu Tho Province, under instructions of the Provincial Military Headquarters, successfully defused three bombs, weighing from 100 to 750 pounds, on March 14th and 15th. Among the UXOs from the wars between Vietnam and French and American invaders, the made-in-USA 750-pound bomb, 40cm in diameter and 120cm in length, was found 70 meters from the Doan Hung Bridge. Since the beginning of this year, the Provincial Military Headquarters has safely defused 5 different UXOs in districts of Thanh Son, Thanh Thuy, Doan Hung, Phu Tho town and Viet Tri city. According to Colonel Pham Hong Chuong, Deputy Commander and Chief of the Staff of the headquarters, various training courses have been organized to improve professionalism and skills in detecting and defusing UXOs among cadres and troops, especially sappers in units, and to minimize damage caused by UXOs.
