Saigon co.op Grants VND700M Scholarships to Poor Students
Saigon Co.op, operator of the Co.opMart supermarket chain, on Dec 7 awarded 150 scholarships worth VND5 million each to poor students nationwide. Students who received the scholarships will be given the opportunity to work for Saigon Co.op after graduation and part-time for undergraduates. The scholarship program held annually to help poor students who are majoring in economics, IT, biology – food technology, construction and logistics. Nguyen Thi Hanh, general director of Saigon Co.op, said, “We expect to have over 100 supermarkets and 200 food stores by 2015, so there will be many positions for students to fill after they graduate.” Since it started in 2009, three scholarship winners have commenced work for the company.
