Russian Television Broadcasts on Vietnamese AO Victims
The Russian RT television channel has recently broadcast a documentary film on Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange, the toxic chemical that the U.S. troops sprayed in Vietnam during the war. Entitled ‘‘Vietnam: AO pain’’, the 28-minute film recorded images of AO victims in their daily life. During their participation in the war in Vietnam, the U.S. air force used toxic defoliant in an attempt to lay bare the trees to see Vietnamese troop movements in the forest, from the air. The dioxin in AO is seriously toxic to the health of people exposed to it and is proven to cause birth defects in the next generation. Fifty years has passed but the chemical has still leaves negative affects on local residents, according to the RT. Remaining bombs and mines claim many lives while the consequences left by AO continue to cause negative affects on following generations. The affect of AO can be remarkably visible in Vietnam, with an estimated 5 million people suffering some consequences from the toxic chemical, which can be called their “AO pain”, the RT reported.
