Quang Binh Urged to Speed up Poverty Reduction
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged the central province of Quang Binh to fully tap its potentialities to boost poverty reduction and sustainable growth. The Prime Minister made the point during his latest tour of the central province of Quang Binh on September 4 to work with provincial authorities on the 2011 socio-economic development plan. The Government chief requested the central province to resolve difficulties, boost production and business and utilize all resources for sustainable socio-economic development. With its great potential for developing forestry, agriculture and tourism, Quang Binh province should apply advanced technology to increase agricultural productivity, develop its processing industry, and build the Gianh River Cement Industrial Park into the country’s largest cement producer, said Mr. Dung. The Government leader asked provincial leaders to attach more importance to policies and programs on fast and sustainable poverty reduction and social welfare in order to build a new rural area. The PM also recommended the central province review all investment projects and implement them properly in accordance with the country’s real demands. Earlier, on September 3, Prime Minister and his entourage offered incense at the Road 20 Temple for Heroic Martyrs and the Tho Loc B67 cemetery in Bo Trach district. Over the past eight months, Quang Binh province has effectively implemented Government Resolution 11 on solutions to rein in inflation, stabilize the macro-economy and ensure social welfare. Especially, local industrial production value surged 14.6%. Export turnover increased by 116%. The number of poor households fell by 2. 36%. Over 17,360 new jobs were created. (news.gov.vn Sept 4)
