Prime Minister Approves Plan to Compile Vietnam Encyclopedia
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a plan to compile 36 books of Vietnam’s encyclopedia until 2030. The work is assigned to the Vietnam Association of Social Sciences and a council decided by the prime minister for two phases from 2014 to 2019 and from 2020 to 2030. The 36-volume encyclopedia will cover different fields ranging from sciences, financial sector, to national defense, security and culture, the government said on its website. “The encyclopedia will deliver scientific value, national spirit, modernism, and accuracy. It will be based on the Marxist-Leninist, Ho Chi Minh spirit and reflect the party and state’s policies as well,” the government said. This compilation is aimed at raising the intellectual standards and serve the country’s development, the government noted. The communist nation has the four-volume Encyclopedia Dictionary of Vietnam published in 2005 with the contribution of 1,200 scholars. (Chinhphu.vn July 31, Doi Song & Phap Luat – Life & Law Aug 4 p3)
