Poor Households Helped To Build Houses
350,000 out of 512,475 poor households nationwide have been helped financially to build their own houses, according to the Ministry of Construction. Local officials of Long An Province inspect the housing construction for poor household. The figure was released at the Central Steering Committee for housing and real estate market’s meeting held in Tam K? City, Qu?ng Nam Province on May 24. Of the beneficiaries, 79,628 households are in the country’s 62 most disadvantaged districts and 22,053 others are from the Khmer ethnic minority group in the southern central provinces. Nine provinces, namely Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Lam Dong, Dak Lack and Dak Nong, have thus far fulfilled targets of their housing assistance programs. Seven provinces in the southern central region have almost completed the program while Quang Nam, Phu Yen, Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces plan to finish the program within this year. Localities attributed positive achievements in housing assistance for the poor to the Government’s strong commitments and widespread financial contributions by local communities. Mr. Nguyen Tran Nam, Deputy Minister of Construction cum Vice Chairman of the Central Committee for Housing and Real Estate Market on Tuesday urged localities nationwide to accelerate this assistance so that the work can be totally accomplished within this year, creating more shelters for poor people.
