Overseas Vietnamese Present Gifts to AO Victims in Central Provinces
During February 4-6, a delegation from the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Vice Minister Nguyen Thanh Son, visited Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces and presented gifts from overseas Vietnamese to AO victims. In Quang Binh, the delegation presented the current situation and charitable activities of the overseas Vietnamese community around the world, presenting 302.5 million VND and 3,000 USD from overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Lao PDR, and Mr Do Xuan Hoang, Chairman of the overseas Vietnamese association in Russia, to AO victims in the province. Mr Tran Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee, expressed his great appreciation for the support from overseas Vietnamese, saying that these are valuable gifts to help AO victims overcome the difficulties they face in their lives. The money will be used to build houses and offer scholarships for students. Meanwhile, in Ha Tinh province, Vice Minister Nguyen Thanh Son attended the opening ceremony for the Moi Mountain Flag Tower in the historic Dong Loc T-junction Monument, commemorating to famous female hero La Thi Tam. On this occasion, Mr Nguyen Thanh Son also presented nearly 368 million VND donated by overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, the Czech Republic, and Saint Petersburg Russia to AO victims in the authority. Mr Tran Minh Ky, Vice Standing Chairman of the Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee, thanked overseas Vietnamese for the consideration and support, promising to transfer the money to beneficiaries quickly and fully.
