Over VND1,665 Billion Lent to Poor Women
The Vietnam Women’s Union of Hanoi on July 26th held a conference to review its activities helping its members borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank during the period of 2007-2011. According to delegates, this is one of the core missions of the woman’s organizations at all levels in the City. Over the past five years, the City’s Women’s Union have effectively implemented the task by applying the six steps in providing proxy for their members to borrow loans and guiding them to use the loaned capital in effective ways. As of June 2011, the City’s women organizations acted as a guarantor for their members to borrow VND1,665.242 billion from local social policy banks, which, in turn, helped create thousands of jobs and improved incomes for thousands of local women’s families. At the conference, the Hanoi Women’s Union also announced plans to improve its performance of supporting its members, especially poor or/and policy beneficiary women.
