Northeast Ethnic People to Hold Fest

The 8th Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of North-eastern Ethnic People will be held from September 27-30 in Tuyen Quang Province as part of the 2012 Tuyen Quang Culture and Tourism Week. The festival will feature a wide range of events including an opening ceremony with art performances, a north-eastern folklore art festival, a photo exhibition, a tourism promotion camp and a traditional costume show. Other activities include a cuisine competition, beauty contest; visit of the historic Tan Trao area and ethnic sports competitions. The landmark cultural event is coordinated by eight north-eastern provinces including Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, Ha Giang, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh and Phu Tho with Vinh Phuc as the invited guest. The event will honor the cultural identities of ethnic people in the Northeast and promote community cohesion. (Vietnam News Sept 19)
