Nearly VND15B Raised for Underprivileged Children

Nearly VND15 billion has been mobilized via the charity program called “Compassionate Hearts” to support critically underprivileged children during the country’s Action Month for Children in June. This is the fifth year the program has been held by the Family and Children magazine, Vietnam Television, Hanoi Radio and Television, among others. The raised money was channeled to such charity activities as free operations for 45 children suffering from congenital heart diseases, building of two houses for orphans, presenting 130 savings accounts, 100 scholarships, 10 wheelchairs and 600 packages of gifts to disabled children and those suffering from fatal diseases and Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin. The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs presented certificates of merit to several units and individuals for their contributions to social welfare activities targeting children in difficult circumstances.
