Nearly 95% of Khmer Ethnic Groups To Have Electricity

Nearly 95% of the Khmer ethnic minority in Soc Trang province will have access to electricity when the project to provide electricity to their community is completed. The first phase of the VND305 billion project began in 2010 and has finished recently. The second phase, with an investment of VND169 billion, will be carried out during 2013 in 51 communes of 11 of the province's districts. When the project's second phase is completed, an additional 13,200 Khmer people will have electricity, raising the current rate from 94.43% to 96.14% and increasing the percentage of Khmer with access to electricity from 85.86% to 94.52%.
