Nearly 120 Workers Found Positive with H1N1 Virus in Southern Vietnam

As many as 117 workers of a garment factory in Vietnam’s southern province of Kien Giang have been confirmed to have contracted flu virus H1N1, state media reported. The Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute has confirmed that samples taken from then were positive to H1N1. Of the 117 workers of Vinatex Kien Giang factory, 34 were hospitalized. The factory, which houses nearly 1,000 workers, has been asked to take preventive measures to prevent further spread of the flu, such as encouraging its employees to wear facial masks and disinfect workshops, canteens and water closets. The H1N1 flu virus caused a world-wide pandemic in 2009. It is now a human seasonal flu virus that also circulates in pigs, according to the U.S. Department ò Health and Human Services.
