NA Council Of Ethnic Minorities Holds Second Plenary Session
The National Assembly (NA) Council of Ethnic Minorities (CEM) held its second plenary session from October 17-19 in Hanoi. During the session, the delegates made recommendations for the draft report on the Council’s operations during the its first and second sessions and prepared its action plan for the third session. The deputies also approved the CEM regulations for the 13th tenure and gave opinions on 12 bills, including the laws on advertising, price management and raising people’s awareness of legal issues. As scheduled, in 2012 the Council will take responsibility for inspecting the implementation of the Government’s Poverty Reduction Program in the country’s 62 poorest districts and monitoring the land allocation policy for poor households and ethnic minority people. The council will also conduct surveys on the training and employment of ethnic minority laborers in the northwest, Central Highlands and southwestern regions and verify the effectiveness of poverty reduction and hunger elimination policies for ethic minority groups in the southwest region.
