Most of WB-funded Transport Projects in Vietnam Run Behind Schedule: Ministry of Transport

Most of the World Bank (WB)-funded infrastructure transport projects are running behind schedule in Vietnam mainly due to capital shortage or sluggish site clearance, the Ministry of Transport said. A project to develop waterway transport (WB6) in the northern region is one year behind schedule and the 140-kilometer expressway, which links Danang province and Quang Ngai province in the central region, is in the same situation. Similarly, the development of transport infrastructure in the Mekong Delta (WB5) is delayed due to capital shortage. The ministry has arranged VND40 billion ($1.9 million) for this project but it needs up to VND724 billion. (saigon-gpdaily.com.vn Mar 25)
