More Needy People in Phu Yen Receive Houses

The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank), on July 13th, handed over 333 houses, worth more than VND10 billion, to needy families in Son Hoa District and Song Cau Town in Phu Yen province. Present at the hand-over ceremony were Mr. Pham Huy Hung, Party Committee Secretary cum Chairman of Board of Directors of the Bank and leaders of People’s Council, People’s Committee and departments of Phu Yen. On this occasion, the VietinBank also presented essential equipment to the beneficiaries. In the past, Phu Yen province made considerable contributions to the success of national resistance wars against foreign enemies. Most recently, the Phu Yen’s Party Committee and people have carried out positive measures to develop local socio-economy, maintain national defence and security and gradually enhance the people’s living standards. However, Phu Yen province has been confronting with a number of difficulties because of unfavourable natural conditions including natural disasters. Especially, people in Son Hoa, Song Cau, Song Hinh or other mountainous districts are running short of accommodation. To help Phu Yen continue speeding up their socio-economic development and poverty alleviation and hunger elimination, in 2012, the VietinBank funded over VND10 billion to build 333 gratitude houses for needy households in Son Tra and Song Cau; VND 700 millions to organize the program “National Tourism Year – Northern Central Coastal Area 2012” and an event to welcome the province’s 400th anniversary Founding anniversary. Previously, the bank's staff also donated VND300 millions to help the local people overcome aftermath of various natural disasters. (www.qdnd.vn Jul 14)
