More Than 2000 Needy People Employed

The project, “Making markets work better for poor people, Phase 2” (M4P2), including production of fruits, sea food, cassava, coffee, tea, mushroom, cows raising has created more than 2,100 jobs, and increased income for 3,600 households. The information was released at a workshop to review the project supported by UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Asian Development Bank on June 21. Seven creative projects of Vietnam challenge fund including mushrooms growing to reduce poverty, organic tea by ethnic group, cows raising by H’mong ethnic group, producing microbiological fertilizer from waste from producing cassava starch, wet coffee Robusta, grapefruit, a chain to supply sea food for international markets have helped Vietnam’s rural market operate better with equal participation of needy farmers. After operating for a short period of time, these projects have created about 2,100 jobs and increased income for 16,900 households. More effective results are expected when successful models are replicated. Head of Department of Foreign Economic Relations under Ministry of Investment and Plan, Hoang Viet Khang, stressed that the M4P2 project enabled needy people to benefit from economic development progress as well as creates new models to help more needy people.
