Ministry Announces 10 Notable Milestones of Vietnam’s Education in 2023
Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has announced ten significant spots in the education and training sector in 2023, state media reported.
First, 2023 marked ten years of implementing Resolution 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization under the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
Second, the MoET issued six action plans to identify tasks and solutions for developing education and training in six socio-economic regions across Vietnam.
Third, 2023 marked half of the scheme of implementing teaching and learning in the 2018 General Education Program.
Fourth, the MoET approved new textbooks following the 2018 General Education Program curriculum.
Fifth, the ministry adopted the plan to organize the exam and recognition of high school graduation from 2025 that stipulates candidates take compulsory exams in Literature and Mathematics, and two selective subjects among the remaining studied in grade 12.
Sixth, the National Assembly of Vietnam agreed on raising the base salary for officials, civil servants, and public employees, including teachers at the public schools, to VND1.8 million ($75)/month from July 1, 2023.
Seventh, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son chaired an online meeting with over one million teachers nationwide on August 15, 2023.
Eighth, Vietnam’s education sector put into use the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) for the first time, including online enrollment in this system. To date, the MoET synchronizes data on employment of over 97,000 students graduating in 2022 and nearly 7,400 students graduating in 2023.
Ninth, the MoET and some relevant agencies launched the movement to build a learning society and promote lifelong learning nationwide in the 2023-2030 period.
And tenth, Vietnam remained in the top ten countries with the highest achievements in international Olympic competitions, with eight golds, 12 silvers, 12 bronzes, and four merits.
