Kuwait to Fund $14.6M to Develop Infrastructure in Vietnam Province
The Kuwaiti government will provide a $14.6 million loan through the Kuwait Fund to help Vietnam’s central province of Ha Tinh develop its infrastructure system, the government said on its website. The loan agreement was signed by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha and Kuwait Fund Deputy General Director Hesham Al-Waqayan in Hanoi on March 25. Addressing the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Ha said that the signing of the loan contract shows increasing development of the close economic cooperation between the two countries. The Finance Ministry said that the Kuwaiti State has funded nine projects in the Southeast Asian country with a total loan of KWD38 million ($140 million) through the Kuwait Fund. The capital has been poured into rural infrastructure projects and small-scale irrigation and traffic works in poor provinces. A number of projects have been put into operation, including the Dau Tieng reservoir, the Van Dinh irrigation scheme and Dac Ta-Ngoc Linh road segment. (chinhphu.vn Mar 26, vietnamplus.vn Mar 25)
