JETRO Pledges to Support Vietnam to Export Farm Produce to Japan

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will help Vietnam enhance export of farm produce to Japan, said JETRO’s Chief Representative Atsusuke Kawada. The Japanese official made this statement at a working session in northern Ha Nam province on October 4. Currently, Ha Nam province is implementing several projects growing two key crops, pumpkin and soybean, for export to Japan. While Japan has high demand for agricultural products, Vietnam is not yet a strong farm produce supplier to this market due to difficulties in meeting its defined safety and quality standards. JETRO is a Japanese government agency in charge of promoting mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world via its 73 overseas offices in countries and territories across the world. The organization is cooperating with Vietnam to realize many activities to promote trade and investment exchanges between the two countries. (Kinh Te Viet Nam & The Gioi Nov 5 p3)
