Japan to Help Vietnam Reduce Hotel Carbon Emissions
A Japanese-funded project will be piloted in major hotels in Vietnam, aimed at reducing carbon emissions produced by large hotels in Vietnam. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the funding was signed in Ho Chi Minh City by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) and the New Energy and the Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The pilot Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) project on low-carbon hotel, a new energy management system for buildings in Vietnam has a total investment of $2.8 million. Initiated by Japan, the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) is to boost bilateral cooperation with developing countries in green-house gas emission reduction via Japanese advanced low-carbon technologies adoption.
