Japan to Grant $200,000 for School Projects in Central Vietnam

Japan will provide $200,000 in non refundable aid for a project to build and upgrade schools in Vietnam’s central provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa this year. The signing ceremony for the grant was held in Hanoi on March 24, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper reported March 25. This is the fifth project of this kind funded by the Japanese government so far this year, it added. Under the project, a two-storey school will be built in My Son commune and Thanh Hoa Industry Technical Vocational School will be upgraded.
“I hope that this project will improve primary school education of the localities, the friendship and mutual understanding between the countries will be further deepened,” Japanese Ambassador Yasuaki Tanizaki said.
Japan is one of biggest donors of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam. The Japanese government has so far helped build around 300 primary schools in 17 provinces in flood-prone areas and four northern mountainous provinces.
