Japan to Fund $192.07M for Vietnam Water Supply, Drainage Project
The Japanese government has decided to finance JPY10-15 billion ($128.05-192.07 million) via the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for a water supply and drainage project in Vietnam next years. The funding will be spent on building and managing water supply systems and waste treatment plants in the capital city of Hanoi and its neighboring areas, state media reported. The Vietnam Water Supply, Sewerage and Environment Investment Construction Corporation (VIWASEEN) and Japan’s Metawater Company will participate in the project. This month, JICA plans to evaluate the project and consider other assistance projects, including the school construction in the Southeast Asian country and a poverty reduction initiative in Pakistan. The Japanese agency also expects to assist its businesses in exporting their technologies to other foreign countries and improve infrastructure in developing countries.
