Japan Firms Get Ok for $190M Environment Projects in Central Vietnam

Two Japanese companies, JFE Engineering Corporation and Nihon Suido Consultants, have been licensed to implement two environmental projects totaling $190 million in Vietnam’s central city of Danang. The information was released at a meeting between the firms and the municipal People’s Committee on November 14. The projects are wastewater treatment in Lien Chieu district and waste processing plant in the Khanh Son dumping site, which will be carried out in the form of public-private-partnership (PPP). In 2007, Nihon Suido Consultants started a pre-feasibility study for a general project to improve environment and sanitation in Danang. Leaders of the company said that it is now coordinating with its partners of Sumitomo, JFE Engineering and Tsukishima Kakai to study the pre-feasibility of the two subprojects in accordance with the general project.
