Japan’s JERA Pledges to Support Vietnam’s Energy Development

Japan’s JERA Co. Inc. commits to supporting Vietnam’s energy development, its Chief Global Strategist and Senior Managing Executive Officer Mr. Steven Winn said in his recent interview with the Vietnam Government Portal.

The firm pledges to assist Vietnam with (i) reliable energy to support industry and customer requirements, (ii) low-cost energy to support economic growth and prosperity, and (iii) the transition to zero emissions to give future generations a bright future, Mr. Steven Winn elaborated.

He highlighted the importance of LNG as it is reliable, low cost, and cleaner than coal.

To help firms increase investment and build a competitive environment for the energy industry in Vietnam, the government should devise a clear roadmap, such as a specific roadmap for the structure and organization to buy electricity, and clear goals and orientations that match international standards, he proposed.

JERA is carrying out three major energy projects in Vietnam, with a focus on the transition of using ammonia and hydrogen to replace natural gas. (en.baochinhphu.vn)
