IUCN Eyes to Promote Environment Cooperation with Vietnam

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) desires to strengthen cooperation on environment, climate, and water resources with Vietnam, said Director General of the IUCN Grethel Aguilar.

The official made the statement while recently meeting Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh on the sidelines of the COP28 in Dubai.

Highlighting the operation in Vietnam for 30 years, Ms. Grethel Aguilar affirmed that the IUCN is willing to further partner with Vietnam in conserving biodiversity and implementing cooperation projects related to the environment, climate, and water resources.

The Union is committed to supporting Vietnam in accessing financial and technical channels to implement the projects mentioned above, she added.

In reply, Minister Khanh welcomed the great support from the IUCN in recent years. He suggested the Union continue supporting Vietnam in accessing financial resources for larger-scale transformation projects and bringing livelihoods to people, managing river basins, and ensuring water source security.
