India Commits to Assist Vietnam in Agricultural Development

India pledged to assist Vietnam in developing its agriculture production areas including biotechnology, rice cultivation technique, livestock husbandry, irrigation, aquatics and crop breeding. The commitment was made by Indian Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar at a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, who was on his visit to India from March 26-30. India is willing to train Vietnamese on agricultural technology, firstly on sugarcane cultivation and sugar refinery, Minister Pawar said. Deputy Prime Minister Nhan expressed his hope that India will help Vietnam improve agricultural techniques, including reduction of post harvest which is about 12%, much higher than that in developed countries.
