Hydropower Plant Serving Ethnic People in Central Vietnam Connected to Grid
Turbine 2 of a 180-MW hydropower plant in Vietnam’s central province of Nghe An has been connected to the national grid, generating about 717 million kWh of electricity per year. Costing VND6 trillion ($287 million), the plant was built by several investors including the state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam)’s Petro Vietnam Power Corporation (PV Power), Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama Corp) and Bac A JS Bank. Designed to generate about 717 million kWh of electricity per year, the facility will supply power and help prevent flood and provide irrigation for ethnic minorities living in the remote areas of the two central provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
