Hospital Provides Tests for Poor Children with Heart Disease

The Phu Yen Province’s Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs worked with the Tam Duc Heart Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on April 20th to provide free screening tests for local needy children under 16 with congenital heart defects. Accordingly, doctors examined more than 300 patients. Among them, 30 cases needed urgent surgery. As children’s families can not afford surgery, the local Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs instructed them to apply for support from the Ho Chi Minh City’s Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients and foundations of Children Action and Vinacapital. Each surgery will cost up to VND60 million. Of which, 70% comes from the organizations, while the remainder is from patients’ families or other sponsors. It is the seventh consecutive year the Tam Duc Heart Hospital organizes free tests for needy children of congenital heart diseases in Phu Yen Province. (Quan Doi Nhan Dan – People’s Army April 21)
