HMU Should Become Health Sciences University: Politburo Member

The Hanoi Medical University (HMU) should develop towards becoming a model health sciences university, said Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC). He made the statement at a meeting on September 8 to celebrate HMU’s 110th anniversary and the beginning of a new academic year. Addressing the meeting, Mr Huynh praised the achievements made in education and training by teachers and students at HMU over the past 110 years, as well as their involvement in general health care activities. The 2011-2012 academic year is of great importance as it is the first year implementing the 11th Party Congress Resolution and the 2011-2020 educational development strategy. He encouraged the university’s teachers and students to strive to achieve the objectives and fulfill the new school year’s tasks to turn HMU into a health sciences university by 2015. He also urged HMU to continue providing comprehensive education and training to improve the quality of human resources, maintain its academic tradition of quality teaching and learning, and promote innovative education. At the ceremony, Politburo member Huynh also presented gifts to three outstanding students who attained scores of 29.5/30 on the university entrance exam. (nhandan.org.vn Sept 9)
