Highlands’ Biggest Museum Opens in Dak Lak

Daklak Province’s authorities have finally opened Dac Lak Museum, which is regarded as the biggest in the Highlands, reports Vietnam+.
Daklak Museum is designed as an architectural imitation of nha dai (traditional long house) of Ede people, a local ethnic group which accounts for the majority of ethnic groups in the province. Covering an area of 9,200 square meters, the 130 meter long and 65 meter wide work was  jointly constructed by museum experts from France and Vietnam from February 2008 with total investment capital of VND80 billion. There are three different areas featuring biological, ethnic cultural and historical themes in the museum. The opening ceremony saw visitors enjoying a collection of nearly 1,000 items, photos, documentary films, articles and notes presented in Vietnamese, French, English and Ede languages. These items offer viewers the whole developing history and unique cultural values of people and nature of the Highland areas from the Stone Age until the present day. (thesaigontimes.vn Nov 23)
