HCM City to Raise Funds for Disadvantaged Kids

The HCM City Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans plans to raise $288,500 annually in the next five years for its charity work.  The money will be used to support 80,000 disadvantaged people and fund several other programs like running vocational training courses for 800 people, building houses for 30 poor families, and creating jobs for more than 75 percent of them, said Nguyen Thi Man, deputy chairwoman of the association. In the past five years, the association raised $2.1 million from donors like the Phu My Hung Joint Venture, Unilever Vietnam, Vinacapital, and others. (Nhan Dan – The People Aug 23)
