Hanoi University Launches Vietnam's First GenAI Engineering Program
Hanoi University of Science and Technology has recently announced its pioneering initiative to introduce a specialized engineering program in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), local media reported.
The program spans 1.5 years, comprising 48 credits, exclusively available to applicants with a bachelor's degree in Information and Communication Technology.
Mr. Dinh Viet Sang, appointed as the program's director, highlighted the extensive applications of GenAI in art, design, content creation, e-commerce, marketing, finance, medicine, and education. Global investment in GenAI surged to $25 billion last year, marking a five-fold increase from 2022, with projections to reach $45 billion this year.
A Market Insights report by Statista forecasts that Vietnam's GenAI market will grow by approximately 23% annually, approaching nearly $1 billion by 2030, Mr. Sang noted, emphasizing the urgent necessity to train high-quality human resources in GenAI, amidst significant investments by leading technology companies and financial institutions worldwide.
Mr. Ta Hai Tung, dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology, underscored the university's motivation to lead in GenAI education, having developed the curriculum in collaboration with industry experts over the past three months. Students will acquire foundational knowledge in AI alongside specialized GenAI skills, including machine learning, deep learning, model deployment, and AI ethics.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology's leadership in information technology education is underscored by its ranking among the top 500 universities globally for computer science and information systems, according to the QS World University Rankings 2024.
