Hanoi Plans to Support Poor, Policy Beneficiary People
Hanoi will earmark more than VND237 billion to present New Year gifts to some 820 local policy beneficiary people during the Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year Festival, according to Le Toan Khang, Deputy Director of the Municipal Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Department. The information was released by the City’s official at a weekly meeting between the City leaders and functional agencies. Under the plan, policy beneficiaries, elderly, disabled, poor and retired people will receive New Year gifts. In addition, the State President has just decided to present gifts to policy families and individuals in the City during the 2012 Lunar New Year Festival. As part of the City’s plan, its agencies will visit and offer gifts to social support centers for homeless and orphaned children, elderly policy beneficiary sanatoriums, production facilities of war invalids and disabled, the Agent Orange Association, the Former Voluntary Youths’ Association and the Liaison Board of former Hanoian political prisoners. The City also encourages districts to visit and present gifts to local poor families so that every one can enjoy the national traditional festive time. (qdnd.vn Dec 21)
