Germany to Further Support Social Projects in Vietnam Central Province

The German government will continue assisting Vietnam’s central province of Thua Thien-Hue in implementing its social projects in the future, said German State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Hans-Juergen Beerfeltz. Mr. Beerfeltz made the statement at a meeting with provincial leaders on Oct 12, adding that the projects will focus on education, heritage preservation, bomb and mine clearance, resettlement and natural disaster adaptation. Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao thanked Germany for its great support, which significantly boosted socio-economic development in the province. The province is carrying out a number of poverty reduction and bomb and mine clearance projects funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. Germany has also provided EUR139,660 in aid for a project to restore the interior of the Ta Vu (Mandarins’ House) in the 2012-2013 period. This is Germany’s fourth international assistance project to help preserve the historical relics in the former Imperial City after the three others to preserve the Khai Tuong Lau-An Dinh Palace, the tomb of King Tu Duc, the Toi Linh Tu (Highest Celestial) temple, and the Phu Noi Vu (Royal Treasury).
