German Hessen State Grants Scholarships to Students in Central Vietnam

The German State of Hessen on April 10 granted scholarships worth VND6 million each to 26 outstanding students who are studying at universities and colleges in Vietnam’s central city of Danang. This is part of an educational cooperation program between Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and the Hessen State Ministry for Science and Art, which aims to encourage disadvantaged students to better themselves and successfully accomplish their studies. Chief Representative of the Hessen State office in Vietnam, Bui Cong Tho, said that this year’s scholarships give priority to female students. The Hessen State Ministry for Science and Art also plans to offer 150 scholarships to Vietnamese students in Hanoi, Danang, Buon Me Thuot, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City and the northern province of Thai Nguyen later this year. Vietnam signed two accords of educational and research cooperation with Hessen State of Germany in Wiesbaden last year in an effort to boost bilateral ties in the field. (www.vietnamplus.vn April 10)
