France Willing to Fund Infrastructure Development Projects in HCM City
France is willing to provide loans for infrastructure development projects in Vietnam’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City, officials from the French Development Agency (AFD) said. They made the commitment at a meeting with Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin on Sept 6, expressing their interest in Bus Rapid Transit project worth $290 million, Da Phuoc mud treatment plant and a project to upgrade dyke system along Saigion river. At the meeting, Tin asked the Department of Planning and Investment to closely work with the AFD on proving funds for the other projects, especially in infrastructure and environment. AFD earlier inked a credit agreement worth EUR20 million for development projects in HCM City. With this new finance agreement, the total accumulated net commitments of AFD for public ODA in Vietnam will amount to about EUR1.05 billion. (Phap luat TpHCM – HCM City Law Sept 7 p2)
