France Funds EUR6.44M for Water Supply Plant in South Vietnam

The French Development Agency (AFD) has agreed to provide EUR6.44 million in aid for a project on building a clean water supply plant in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre. An agreement to this effect was signed in Ben Tre on April 23 in the presence of French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Noel Poirier, representatives from AFD and the Vietnam Development Bank. Located in An Hiep commune, Chau Thanh district, the plant is designed to have a daily capacity of 15,000cu.m, enabling local people to gain access to safe water. Once completed in 2015, the facility will provide water for 9,000 households and two industrial parks. The construction of the water plant is part of a EUR32 million program funded by the AFD on urban water supply for six Mekong Delta provinces of An Giang, Dong Thap, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Can Tho and Ben Tre.
