First Private Heart Hospital to Open in North Vietnam by End October
A private heart hospital, the first of its kind in Vietnam’s northern region will be put into operation in Hanoi by the end of this month, state media reported. Located on 7,500sq.m in Hoan Kiem district, the Dong Do heart hospital, outfitted with modern facilities and advanced medical technology, is expected to meet the rising demands of local residents. The facility is also aimed to curb overloads of Hanoi-based hospitals as well as reduce the number of patients that seek medical treatment overseas which is estimated at over $1 billion per year. Vietnam has been warned of the increasing cardiovascular diseases among children, with 16,000-20,000 kids with congenital heart diseases annually, but it only provides treatment to one tenth of the demand.
