Finland to Fund EUR8.19M for Water, Environment Project in North Vietnam

The Finnish government will provide EUR8.19 million in official development assistance (ODA) for a clean water supply and environmental sanitation project in Vietnam’s northern province of Bac Kan.
Of the sum, EUR6 million will be spent on wastewater treatment and the remaining $2.19 million will be for tap water supply, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported Aug 12, giving no further details about the project. Earlier, the province invested VND18 billion ($87,000) in building 24 more fresh water supply systems for 1,100 local rural people by the year-end, especially those in disadvantaged areas with ethnic minority groups. Bac Kan targets to raise the rate of rural population using clean water to 95% by 2015. (Thoi Bao Kinh Te – Economic Times Aug 12)
