Exhibition on Ethnic Minorities Opens
A photo exhibition, “The culture of ours – Conversations in open space”, opened on April 18th at Ly Thai To Flower Garden to review the Photovoice program launched by the Institute for Social Studies, Economics and Environment (ISSEE) in early 2012. On display are 150 photos, taken by ethnic minority people, reflecting cultural features, habits and customs of ethnic minorities from the South, Central and North region of Vietnam. Through photos attached with interesting stories and conversations with ethnic minority people, visitors have an opportunity to understand more about the cultural identities and customs of Vietnamese ethnic minorities. Mr. Dinh Ba Hoi from Hanoi said that the meaningful exhibition is a bridge to help connect ethnic minorities and promote mutual-understanding among ethnic people. “Culture will be more beautiful and more diversified if exchanges among ethnic minorities are promoted”, affirmed Mr. Le Quang Binh, the Director of ISSEE. The exhibition will last until April 22nd.
Photovoice program by the Institute for Social Studies, Economics and Environment (ISSEE) in early 2012 was carried out in ethnic minorities, such as: H’mông Si and Dao in Yen Bai; H’mông and Dao in Lao Cai; Muong and Thai in Thanh Hoa; Pa Co and Van Kieu in Quang Tri and Khmer in Soc Trang. Staff of ISSEE delivered cameras and gave techniques of taking photos to ethnic minority people. After four months, those staff came to selected ethnic minorities to select the most beautiful photos, clearly showing cultural features and customs of ethnic minorities to display at the exhibition.
