EU Grants EUR90,000 for Vietnam Areas Affected by Drought, Salinization
The EU has granted EUR90,000 to support Vietnamese people affected by drought and salinization in the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands, state media reported. The grant is part of the sum of EUR178,000 that the European Fund for Urgent Disaster Relief gives for Vietnam Red Cross to provide urgent needs, including clean water and money for food purchases for the poorest householders in the affected areas. The grant will be for 17,600 most vulnerable peoples in Ben Tre, Binh Thuan, Gia Lai, Long An, Soc Trang, Tien Giang and Tra Vinh. (vov.vn May 20, Thoi Bao Ngan Hang – Banking Times May 20 p2)
