Dong Nai Province Increases Income and Living Quality Of The Poor
The southern province of Dong Nai will strive to reduce the poverty rate by 1.5% each year in the 2011-2015 period. In 2011 alone, the province plans to reduce the rate by at least 1.22%. Poverty reduction programs of the province will focus on increasing the income and the quality of life for the poor; improving the implementation of poverty reduction policies, ensuring sustainable poverty reduction; encouraging the poor to enrich themselves legally; and boosting economic growth together with social progress and equality. The province will create conditions for the poor to develop production, increase income and access social services. According to the provincial poverty reduction steering committee, poverty reduction programs in the near future will concentrate on remote and ethnic minority inhabited areas, in an effort to help remote and mountainous communes have adequate infrastructure and basic services by 2015. Under the province’s poverty reduction programs, five policies relating to preferential credit, medical assistance, education, housing, water and legal assistance will be implemented, together with four projects on agricultural, fisheries and forestry production, vocational training, the expansion of poverty reduction models and the training of poverty reduction officials.
