Doctors of Military Zone 9 Provide Free Check-Ups for 1,000 Poor People
Two teams of doctors and nurses of units under Military Zone 9 provided check-ups and medicines for free for nearly 1,000 poor people, policy beneficiaries and people of ethnic minorities on April 13th. According to organizers, the drive aimed to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunion (April 30th, 1975 – April 30, 2013), as well as to welcome the upcoming Khmer traditional New Year (Chol Chnam Thmay). In Binh Tan commune, Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province, the medical team of 120 military hospital carrying modern medical equipment and devices provided check-ups and medicines for nearly 300 local people. Chief of the Political Department of the hospital, Lieutenant Colonel said that the medical examination drive cost some VND12 million and that the medical team also presented 15 gifts (worth VND300,000 each) to local poor people. Meanwhile, the other medical team, consisting of doctors and nurses of the Staff of Military Zone 9 in association with Cho Ray hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang Plant Protection Company, provided free check-ups and medicines to some 700 people in the communes of Dong Binh, Dong Thuan, My Hoa and Dong Thanh of Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province. The team also offered 20 gifts (worth VND300,000 each) to policy beneficiaries and people of ethnic minorities. Under the plan, the medical team continued to examine and allocate free medicines to 800 people in the communes of Nhi Long of Cang Long district, Tra Vinh province. (qdnd.vn Apr 13)
