Deputy PM Wants WHO to Help Vietnam Respond to New Health Challenges
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has expected the World Health Organization (WHO) to support Vietnam in responding to new health challenges, especially in improving local health capabilities, local media reported.
The Vietnamese deputy prime minister made his request at a meeting with WHO Chief Representative in Vietnam Angela Pratt in Hanoi on July 18.
Deputy PM Ha added that the organization should assist Vietnam in dealing with obstacles in policies related to health insurance and healthcare.
He also hoped for WHO’s continued support for Vietnam in accessing high-quality and affordable health products and vaccines, especially those in dire need for its expanded immunization program.
Ms. Angela Pratt, for her part, believed that both the WHO and the Vietnamese government have long-term effective cooperation, laying a crucial foundation for both sides to continue to seek measures to address the current health difficulties.
She pledged that the WHO would keep collaborating with the Vietnamese health ministry to increase access to vaccines for its expanded immunization program.
