Deputy PM Calls for Solutions to Improve Quality Of Education
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has asked the Ministry of Education and Training to fully implement new tasks for this year, especially the second semester of the 2010-2011 academic year. During his working session with ministry officials on February 16, Mr Nhan emphasized that the ministry, universities, and colleges should focus on carrying out an action plan for renewed management of university education in the 2010-2012 period as well as the PM’s decision 239/QD-TTg on providing compulsory kindergarten education for children at the age of five in the 2010-2015 period. He said it is urgent to map out a zoning plan for universities and colleges and asked the education and training sector to strengthen and maintain disciplines in exams. At the working session, the ministry insisted that the government consider incentive policies to raise salaries for teachers and educational managers and increase the number of schools, and students to meet the demand for human resources in the cause of national modernization and industrialization. According to plan, the ministry will submit to the Prime Minister some projects aimed at building a studying society in the 2011-2020 period, eradicating illiteracy in the 2011-2020 period and developing a universal education program and textbooks after 2015 and training human resources for the country.
